ALPERTON looks set to be regenerated over the next decade and a new campaign is encouraging the community to help shape the future of their neighbourhood.
Brent Council is planning to open up the canal for people, turning it not only into a place to travel to and from home, work and school but also a place to visit and enjoy.
Plans include a new cultural centre linking communities and an open space for all to use.
New homes for families, couples and individuals are also planned along the canal.
The development of the area is hoped to bring more jobs to the borough and encourage businesses to trade in Alperton.
Councillor John Detre, responsible for regeneration, said: "The vision for Alperton represents one of the most integrated and far reaching regeneration projects proposed for the borough. It will bring new jobs and homes as well as brightening up the area. I encourage residents and businesses to study the plans and feedback their views. Working together we can shape the future of this area which has great potential."
The Masterplan will be developed over the coming months and statutory consultation on this document is due to take place in late summer 2010.

EXTENDING the 18 bus route to Northwick Park Hospital in Watford Road, Harrow, "would not represent good value for money", the Mayor of London said.
Responding to a question from Assembly Member Carolyn Pidgeon (Lib Dem), Boris Johnson (Conservative) said he was not prepared to spend £1.3m lengthening the service.

ABSTRACT oil paintings, collages and photographs can be seen at a new solo exhibition by artist Ruma Nowaz called 'Transitions'.
Her colourful works can be viewed at Dollis Hill's The Stables Gallery and Arts Centre until the end of the month.
