Pupils' transports of delight
PUPILS at a school in Kensal Green are travelling in style on school trips thanks to their new minibuses.
Children at Princess Frederica Church of England Primary School, in Purves Road, ride in the buses to Willesden Sports Centre for swimming lessons, saving valuable
lesson time.
The school leased two 17-seater buses for three years in a deal with local estate agent Mile.
Headteacher Sabina Nettey said: "Many of the pupils have weekly swimming lessons at the sports centre and it could take 20 minutes for them to walk there. Now, they can travel in style whatever the weather.
"The buses are a real blessing and without the support of Mile, schoolchildren from
Princess Frederica would not be able to enjoy so many activities and events."
The school also uses the buses to take its choir and steel pan band to musical
events.
Several members of staff, including the two vicars of St Mark's and St Martin's churches, in Kensal Green, are trained to drive the buses. The school is making the buses
available to other schools, charities and voluntary sector organisations.
To hire one, call the school office on 020 8969 7756.
