Brent library appeal begins today

The six libraries were closed straight after the result last month and have remained shut ever since.
The two day hearing will start at 10.30am today (Thursday November 10).
Passionate campaigners and residents have held vigils outside some of the branches including Kensal Rise and Preston libraries, physically stopping council workers from boarding up and stripping the buildings of their contents.
A 'wall of shame' has been created at Preston Library, with hundreds of residents including children, taking to boarding with marker pens to make their views on the closure public.
Residents have created at physical barrier around Kensal Rise Library in a bid to protect it, and the service has been continued outside after people brought boxes of books from their own homes to share.
A spokesman for Brent SOS said: "The date of the verdict is as yet unknown. A ruling in favour of the campaigners could have implications for library closures across the country, and could embarrass the Government who have remained silent on the issue."
Brent SOS Libraries Campaign is also seeking a separate public enquiry by Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt, under the Museums and Libraries Act 1964, which requires public library services to be "comprehensive and efficient".
Brent SOS has been fund-raising to meet the costs of the legally aided action. Author Jacqueline Wilson, TV personality Esther Rantzen, and musicians Goldfrapp and the Pet Shop Boys are among the thousands of people to have contributed to the legal fund.
