Petition to save library presented to council

rsz_town_hall_groupattkwg.JPG A PETITION signed by around 3,600 people to protect a cherished library building was presented to the council.
Members of the Keep Willesden Green campaign stood outside Brent Town Hall, Forty Lane, on Monday night with protest signs ahead of a meeting of the council executive.

The petition asks the council to pause the Willesden Green Library Centre regeneration plans to "allow for full consultation with residents in order to ascertain their views on how the area should be developed".
The Harrow Observer has previously reported the fact that campaigners do not want the library centre building knocked down and that they feel they have not been adequately consulted.
Around 60 campaigners stood outside the town hall, and member Miki Berenyi gave a speech on behalf of the campaign group to members of the executive.
A council spokesman said: "The petition was received and listened to by executive."
