LEARN about French glass artist Rene Lalique and his Art Noveau jewellery through a talk to be given by jeweller David Callaghan.
The Frenchman, who lived between 1860 and 1945, is the subject of the free lecture organised by Harrow National Trust Association.
Lalique's designs became acclaimed after making jewels for Sarah Bernhardt and then exhibiting at the great Paris exhibitions of 1894 and 1900 and in turn he attracted the attention of Calouste Gulbenkian, who purchased over 150 major items of jewellery from him, of which many are now exhibited in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
From 1900 onwards he concentrated on works in glass and Lalique glass is still made today to his original designs and patterns.

A CAMPAIGN has been launched in Brent to recruit more carers for some of the borough's 300 looked after children.
Brent is currently short of foster carers for black boys aged between ten and 12, babies and infants up to two-years-old and white teenage siblings aged between eight and 14 who need to be placed together.
Commuters at busy West Hampstead and Kentish Town railway stations will see huge billboards featuring profiles of some of the young people who are in need of short or long term foster placements.
Other stations and a fleet of buses in the borough will also carry adverts for the six-week campaign which started on Monday (June 7).
Staff from Brent Council's fostering service will be giving out leaflets at Brent Cross and Westfield shopping centres.
This is one of its biggest ever fostering campaigns ever to be run in the borough.
Naima Khan, head of service for fostering and adoption, said: "We are looking for people in Brent and, in some cases outside of the borough, to become foster carers for our children in care. There are many different kinds of fostering but all require dedication, patience and above all love for children.
"Foster carers provide children, who cannot stay with their own families, a good experience of family life; doing ordinary and normal things that families do together.
"They provide safe, secure and loving homes, which sadly, for many children in care, is something they have never had. If you have ever thought of doing something that will make a difference to a child's life, then please consider fostering for Brent. We will provide preparation, training and support to help you in this"
To support the campaign, the fostering service will be holding two recruitment drives at Willesden Green Library Centre on Monday, June 7, and Monday, July 5, starting at 6.30pm. For further information log on to www.brent.gov.uk/fostering
